General Information

The 9th International Conference on the Training of the Judiciary begins on Sunday, September 22, 2019 in Cape Town, South Africa. Here are some important reminders before you travel to Cape Town!

Conference Location

The conference will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, 1 Lower Long Street, Cape Town 8001, South Africa.  

Airport Transportation

Attendees will be responsible for their own transportation to/from the airport.  Here you can find Information about ground transportation. Uber is also available at the Cape Town International Airport. IOJT attendees interested in pre-arranging private transportation may do so by contacting Hanri van Lill or Johan Stander of Indaba Travel.

Registration and Opening Reception

Participants can complete their registration and pick-up their conference badges in the Ballroom Gallery at the Convention Center between 12 Noon and 6 pm on Sunday. The opening reception for the conference takes place starting at 6 pm, in the Clivia Conservatory at the Convention Centre. Registration will also be available starting Monday at 7 am.

Conference App

Conference organizers have also prepared an easy-to-use smartphone app with the conference agenda and other important details. The same content is available in a mobile-friendly web version. While English is the official language of the Conference, there will be simultaneous interpretation between English, French, Spanish and Portuguese for those sessions held in the main hall (Ballroom East). 

Cape Town Tours

A private tour operator, Indaba Travel, will be operating tours on Tuesday afternoon. If you wish to book in advance, please complete the “enquire” form for the appropriate tour on this website. There will be a tour desk in the registration area at the Convention Centre.

Other important information:

  • Free WiFi internet service will be provided at the Convention Centre.
  • Business attire is requested for all conference events.
  • Conference badges must be worn at all times to gain admission to the education sessions, meals, and social functions
  • Lunch will be provided Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Ballroom West at the Convention Centre.
  • The Gala Dinner will take place on Wednesday, September 25, from 6:30 pm-9:00 pm, at the Suikerbossie Restaurant in Haut Bay. Transportation will be provided between the Convention Centre and the venue. Business attire is requested.
